A rich history

George and Bev have been living in Swellendam since 2004 after developing a very successful 26 roomed boutique hotel and restaurant called Cranberry Cottage on the Lesotho/Eastern Free State border - which they owned and ran for fourteen years (exhaustion
set in and they escaped to Swellendam after selling the business in 2004.

Bev is the brand founder and product developer for the body and bath product brand Rain which had its humble beginnings in 1998 in the garage of Cranberry Cottage employing two women, and which now employs 170 people. Bev also runs a small travel company called Expedition Curiosity taking guests to all the places she knows and loves around the globe.

George, who is also an architect managing his own construction team, could not keep himself away from tourism, and so he changed their estate home Arumvale into a boutique country guesthouse.

Both George and Bev are active in Swellendam's town, church & civic life while contributing significantly to the development & upliftment of the town's less fortunate people through their job creation endeavours.
